About the Department

The Post Graduate Program (Master of Dental Surgery) in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthodontics at CPGDISH was started in the year 2010. The training aims to provide the students with relevant clinical and research skills with the objective of developing clinically proficient specialists
Clinical training covers a whole gamut of treatment philosophies from contemporary fixed orthodontics technique (MBT and Roth), fixed functional appliances to removable Orthodontics appliances including function appliances. Other areas include, but are not limited to, digital cephalometrics, adult Orthodontics, orthodontics-orthognathic surgery, temporary anchorage devices, and cleft lip and palate.
Seminars and guest lecturers cover a wide range of topics from basic medical sciences (Biostatics, bone and muscle biology etc).To clinical sciences treatment, techniques and appliances with the purpose of integrating basic and clinical sciences for the students to develop comprehensive patient treatment skills.

Joint seminar with other disciplines provide for training in interdisciplinary and translational orthodontic clinical and research skills.
The Department is equipped with contemporary orthodontics instrumentation and materials. A very proficient and well trained Faculty guides the students in a conducive academic environment. The faculty has publications in international and National Journals.
